Traveling to Haiti with a Medical Team – March, 2015

Greetings.  It has been awhile since we connected.  I am trying out something new – well new for me.  I have decided to use a blog format this year.  Let me know what you think!  I am open to suggestions.  Look forward to hearing from you.

This week I am finalizing preparations for travel to Haiti with a medical team from Regina, SK.   The team of nurses, midwives and a doctor will be focusing on training (a refresher course in obstetrics) for the staff at the Gens de Nantes Clinic (GdN).  They will be sure to be involved in the practical work of the clinic as well.  Included in the team are some handy people who will continue renovations on the GdN medical staff house.

The following week 4 adults from Albright EMC in Winnipeg will be joining us.  Their focus is community visits as well as health education in the local schools.  I look forward to getting better acquainted with the even more rural villages surrounding the GdN community.

My last week in Haiti will be spent catching up with reports on the various projects that have been in progress over the last year.  For example, Albright EMC  has been involved with building houses in GdN, Carice and Acul des Pins.  Along with taking the above team members on a tour of the houses that they “helped to build,” I will be gathering together final reports for Pam at the  EMCC office.

I will be in Haiti for one month; I will return home in time for the Easter celebrations (April 2).  Please pray for the teams and I as we travel this month.  Pray also for the staff at the GdN clinic.

PS It is now October 13, 2015.  This is being published rather late.  I am just giving you details about the year as it unfolded.
