March, 2019 God’s Provision

Saturday, March 23, 2019

Today I received a phone call from Pastor Andre Philogene.  He recounted the following story: he heard that a young 28-year-old lady from the community was very ill.  The family had not brought her to the GDN Health Centre.  He decided that he needed to go and investigate the situation.  When he arrived he found that the gal was very ill; she had diarrhea and vomiting and had been sick for a few days.  He told the family that they needed to bring her immediately to the Health Centre.  They replied that they did not even have a few pennies in the home to pay for medicines and care.  He responded that they must bring her and to not worry about the money.

Pastor Andre called me this morning to tell me that he had already begun to use the money that I said that I would be sending via money gram.

You are likely asking, “What money is Marilyn sending?”

The last time that I was in Haiti, I decided to buy several cases of vanilla to use as fundraisers.  The last case was sold with the purpose of funds raised to help women and children in the community of Gens de Nantes needing health care. These funds had not yet been sent to Haiti.  In a phone call with Pastor Andre last week, I let him know that I would be sending this money and that the clinic could use it as needed for such cases.  So the reason that Andre called today was to tell me that God had answered a prayer for the family of the gal in the village.  She was taken to the Health Centre at GDN and was given IV’s and medications to restore her strength and health.   Andre said that she would not likely be alive today if they did not provide credit at the clinic for the service and medications needed.  Praise God for vanilla sales that provided some extra funds for the GDN Health Centre to assist those in critical need of health resources.

Thanks to Norma at Country Hills church who was my sales agent for that last case of vanilla.  And thanks to all who purchased the Haitian Vanilla.  So appreciated!!

Need vanilla?  I will likely be purchasing more on my next visit to Haiti.

Haiti at present:  Please continue to pray for the nation of Haiti. The issues are complex and impact everyone.

  • Unrest and protests due to many factors – fuel shortages, running water, no electricity …
  • Inflation
  • Government instability
  • Corruption at all levels of society
  • In central and north Haiti, no rain
  • Food shortages – leading to increased malnutrition
  • Farming methods – not resistant to climate changes or periods of drought
  • And many others ….

My prayer for Haiti today would be this: Psalm 67

1 May God be merciful and bless us (Haiti).    May his face smile with favour on us (Haiti).  Interlude

2 May your ways be known throughout the earth (Haiti),   your saving power among people everywhere (Haiti).

3 May the nations (Haiti) praise you, O God.   Yes, may all the nations (Haiti) praise you.

4 Let the whole world (Haiti) sing for joy,   because you govern the nations (Haiti) with justice

and guide the people of the whole world(Haiti).  Interlude

5 May the nations (Haiti) praise you, O God.   Yes, may all the nations (Haiti) praise you.

6 Then the earth will yield its harvests,  and God, our God, will richly bless us(Haiti).

7 Yes, God will bless us(Haiti),  and people all over the world (Haiti) will fear him.

Next travels to Haiti:

There are tentative plans to travel to Gens de Nantes later in May, 2019.  Please pray for wisdom as I  continue to wait on God’s leading and direction.
