At age 14 Marilyn made a public confession of faith and determined that Jesus Christ would be her Lord and Saviour. God wired her with a keen interest in people and places around the world, early in life. She attended Emmanuel Bible College (EBC) in Kitchener and studied nursing at Conestoga College. Her life was forever impacted by a year she spent in Haiti as a volunteer nurse through World Partners (WP). After more studies she returned to Haiti (1983-1994) as a full-time World Partners missionary.
At present, she is project manager for EMCC R&D and is the liaison person for EMCC World Partners with the Haitian AEM (the national Missionary church in Haiti). She represents R&D to our EMC family of churches in this part of Canada.
She has been involved in planning and taking medical teams to Haiti, El Salvador, Tanzania and Romania to raise awareness of the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental health needs in those countries. She also works as a casual nurse at the Region of Waterloo Public Health.
When not globetrotting, she shares a home with her sister Ruth in birdland in Elmira, Ontario. She enjoys “birdwatching,” photography, reading and greatly appreciates the outdoors in whatever country she happens to be.
